1 Peter 2:12 – “Be careful to live properly among your unbelieving neighbors. Then even if they accuse you of doing wrong, they will see your honorable behavior, and they will give honor to God when he judges the world.”
1 Corinthians 6:20- For you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.
I think the key verse here is the latter. Glorify God in your body.
What does that mean to you?
For me (and my friend) that means covering ourselves. Not only the obvious, but anything that would make the opposite sex stumble in any way. Believers, we are called to both act and look separate from the world. The moment we called upon the name of the Lord for salvation He has forgiven us fully of our sins and given us eternal life sending us the Holy Spirit which is to live inside of us until we are united with Christ in heaven convicting us of sin and interceding for us a relationship with God the Father. You see, although we live in the world- such a corrupted world that it is- we are no longer apart of the world, but instead belong to our eternal Father, Christ Jesus who called us out of darkness and bought us with a price. So can we not obey in this simple command by glorifying God in all we say and do and honoring Him with how we present Him to the non believers?Think of it like this and ask yourself these questions: Would God wear this? Would I wear this if I knew I would be seeing Him today? Would what I am wearing honor God, or is what I am wearing- or rather the way I am wearing it- blending in with the world?
I know that might sound a bit silly, but is it not true? God is forever with us. There is no hiding from Him, neither is there any running from Him. So, fellow believers, honor and give glory to God through all you say and do, be that light in the darkness that God has called us to be, contrast with the world instead of mimic it, and finally, glorify God in your bodies.
